Mildura Aldi sets purchase limits on sought-after items

MILDURA’S Aldi store has implemented purchasing limits on sought-after items such as toilet paper.

It comes as people continue to panic buy in the wake of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

Supermakets Coles, Woolworths and Ritchies/Fishers have already introduced purchasing limits on items such as toilet paper, paper towel, rice, pasta and other essential items.

Aldi is the last of the supermarket giants to put purchasing limits in place, which came into effect from Tuesday.

People will now only be able to buy one packet of toilet paper and two units of dry pasta, flour, dry rice, paper towels, tissues and hand sanitiser.

Meanwhile Coles, Woolworth, Ritchies/Fishers and Aldi have now all temporarily suspended change-of-mind refunds for these items.

Aldi CEO Tom Daunt said the change-of-mind refunds for Aldi stores would be in place until further notice and included toilet paper, tissues and serviettes, paper towels, nappies and baby wipes, feminine hygiene, canned food, changing products, cooking oils and vinegar, pasta and pasta sauce, rice and rice meals, cleaning products, flour and hand sanitiser.

“Our employees are doing a great job to keep up with demand, so please pay them the respect they deserve,” Mr Daunt said.

“We will continue to work around the clock with our great Australian partners to distribute product to our store. Please remember to be kind, be calm, be empathetic and most of all courteous.”
