Business opportunities a-plenty in Mildura CBD

OPENING or buying a business in Mildura’s CBD could be a great investment for people looking to move to the region, says City Heart chair Adam Hobbs.

Currently a number of popular businesses are seeking new owners, including Cold Rock, Snagged and Ms Lucy – all located on Eighth Street.

The Central Market on Lime Avenue is also for sale.

“I think there’s great opportunity for a husband and wife team – for example – to come here and be able to run a small business really successfully and profitably in an already vibrant cafe scene,” Mr Hobbs said.

“Mildura’s CBD is the hub of retail hospitality and services within Mildura. It is the place to be, and from a hospitality perspective, we’ve got the broadest variety of everything that people want.”

But there is always room for more and Mr Hobbs believes the CBD could support more restaurants and cafes.

“It needs more hospitality services and it needs more restaurants and cafes so that we can add to the diversity of the city,” he said.

The businesses currently for sale within the CBD have continued to operate normally with Ms Lucy even launching a new menu in mid-February.

Cold Rock is the latest business to go on the market and has been operating for close to 10 years.

According to real estate agency Ray White – who is handling the sale of Cold Rock – the owners wish to retire.

Mr Hobbs said the CBD was an inclusive space for businesses to operate in.

Mildura City Heart is currently working to showcase the CBD and region’s produce by teaming up with Mildura Regional Development for the Crafted by Mildura – Taste Better Walk.

The Langtree Mall is also known to have a variety of entertainment on offer throughout the week and on weekends.

“Mildura City Heart is working really hard to ensure that we’ve got a mix of events like live entertainment and we work with traders whenever they have things going on to share it to the community so that people get involved and come down and enjoy the space,” Mr Hobbs said.

“Every month there is an event or something happening within the CBD and I think that’s really important and the more people that get involved and the more people that come down and be part of that space the better it will be.”
