Doubt hangs over Mildura’s Colette by Colette Hayman store

MILDURA’S Colette by Colette Hayman store has become the latest local outlet to face the uncertainty of a national chain going into voluntary administration.

The women’s handbag and accessory retailer was put into voluntary administration on Friday last week.

It joins a list of other Australian retailers, including Jeanswest and Harris Scarfe, to announce it was in difficulties in recent months.

In the case of Jeanswest, the Mildura store was saved when administrators confirmed it would not be included among 37 stores to be closed.

However, Harris Scarfe Home Mildura announced it would close about two weeks after the company’s receivership announcement.

Colette was founded in 2010 and has 140 stores across Australia – one of which is in Mildura Central.

The company has promised its 300 full-time employees will continue to be paid and gift cards will be honoured until the business is sold or recapitalised.
