Mildura hotels happy with gold award success

TWO Mildura hotels have been recognised for outstanding hospitality and customer service.

Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge Mildura were both recipients of the Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Gold Award 2019 as franchisees of the company.

Both hotels are now also in the running for the Choice Hotels Asia-Pac Hotel of the Year award.

Manager of both hotels Lindsay Mammone said he was extremely happy with the award.

“We are really happy obviously, it is just a reward for our effort over the past 15-20 years in the industry,” he said.

“It re-ensures that we are doing the right thing.

“There is always room for improvement but it proves that we are on the right path.”

The hotels are nominated by head office for the award based on customer service feedback and auditing through the year.

The Hotel of the Year Awards will be announced late this month and Mr Mammone said he was looking forward to the results.

“There are some pretty good other properties amongst it, but we are a pretty good chance,” he said.

“We won it a couple of years ago — so confident but not over-confident.

“If we don’t win that’s fine as well.”

Choice Hotels Asia-Pac chief executive Trent Fraser said it was important to recognise their establishments achievements.

“Congratulations to the Comfort Inn Deakin Palms and Econo Lodge Mildura teams on their Gold Award win for 2019,” he said.

“The exemplary hospitality service you both provide to local guests and your contribution to the broader community is applauded.”
