THE start date for construction of an OTR fuel and convenience store on the corner of Fifteenth Street and Deakin Avenue in Mildura is expected to be set within a month.
OTR community partnerships manager Joann Skene said it would take 26 to 28 weeks for construction to be completed and expected OTR Mildura would be opened later this year.
“OTR Mildura will create 50 new jobs during the construction phase and an additional 40 much-needed retail roles to be filled by people of all ages from the local surrounding community of Mildura,” she said.
Ms Skene said OTR’s research indicated fuel consumers in Sunraysia were paying more than four cents per litre more than necessary and the OTR Mildura store would help drive down fuel prices.
Once built, the development will include 24/7 convenience services including barista-made C Coffee, supermarket essentials, OTR’s Eat range and Moe’s Dog & Shake.
The company is yet to decide which restaurant franchise will be included in the store.
OTR has rights to several restaurant chains including Hungry Jack’s, Oporto, Guzman Y Gomez, WokinaBox and Subway.
“We also have a community program, OTRGive, that creates donations to local community groups every time a customer shops or refuels at OTR via a choice on the OTR App,” Ms Skene said.
“These donations are made directly by OTR at no cost to the customer and have exceeded $192,000 since OTRGive was launched 18 months ago.”
In December 2015, OTR opened its first Victorian store in Irymple, followed by a Portland store last June.
Horsham and Stawell OTR stores are scheduled to open in March.
