BANK Australia has announced it will close the company’s Mildura branch in April next year.
Customers of the Eighth Street branch were notified by an email from Bank Australia on Monday afternoon, which said April 3 would be the closure date.
The bank said the decision to close the branch had come after a “thorough review of our national branch network” and customers’ increasing preference for online banking.
“While a network of branches will continue to be offered by Bank Australia, we must also ensure we are using our customer’s money to invest in the services they are using now and into the future,” the email said.
Bank Australia said customers’ accounts and loans would remain the same and banking online and over the phone would still be offered.
It said it would help staff find other employment.
“We also understand the impact this will have on our Mildura team,” the email said.
“They are receiving close support and we are working to help them find other roles within Bank Australia, or with other employers in the region.”
