ANOTHER loss has been attributed to the broadcaster that beams Channel Nine programs into Sunraysia lounge rooms.
Mildura Digital Television, a joint venture between Prime Media and WIN, counts Love Island Australia and The Block among its shows.
The Prime annual report released in October recorded a $150,000 loss arising from Prime’s 50 per cent share of Mildura Digital Television last financial year.
The loss was greater than the $43,000 Prime attributed to the joint venture the previous financial year.
However, both results were less than some past losses when Mildura Digital Television carried Channel Ten programming.
Between 2008 and 2016, Prime reported losses of $4.7 million from the joint venture.
Prime’s annual report was released on the same day a proposed merger with Seven West Media was announced.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on Wednesday reportedly began its informal merger review.
A third commercial TV licence in Sunraysia was granted in 2005, a year before Mildura Digital Television brought Channel Ten to the region.
Prime and WIN own the other two licences, which today screen Seven and Ten programs respectively.
