AFTER the completion of 14 rounds of Sunraysia Saturday bowls pennant, the only certainty is that Mildura and Irymple will do battle in the second semi-final.

The remaining four teams in the competition are in a fight for third and fourth spot.

Irymple put a broadside into Ouyen, winning all rinks and amassing an extra 27 shots to add to their 200-plus shots up.

David Gray’s rink of Darren Cordwell, Wayne Gardner and Graeme Phillips were the Suns brightest, collecting a 31-16 win over Alan Crook. The Suns recording an 80(12) – 53(0) win.

Red Cliffs have continued their run of good wins accounting for Merbein at Kenny Park. The win lifts the Tigers off the bottom of the ladder and sees them two points shy of fourth placed Workers.

Maurie Press, Fred Giugno, Luke Savaidis-Milne and Rozanne Muir led the Tiger charge winning 34-11 over Jeff Greenhill.

Shawn Fullerton collected two points for the Hawks defeating Bruce Harford 26-16. Red Cliffs 71(10) d Merbein 55(2).

Mildura took on Workers at Cureton Avenue. Isaiah Bettess led the charge for the Magic with a comprehensive performance as Skip.

The Bettess rink of Keith Sharman, Corey Bettess and Peter Ellis opened up a big break early against Ken Job to leas 20 – 2.

Job’s rink made a late charge to tidy the ledger but finished 14-26 down. Workers Neville Mitchell collected a solid win over Ron O’Neil 29-17 to give the Workers 2 valuable points. Mildura winning 71(10) – Workers 58(2).

Second division matches created some interesting results.

Workers took out Mildura 69(10) – 68(2). Mick Rhoden skipped his rink of Doug Edwards, John Kennedy and Brian Kennedy to a 28-13 win over Ken Yeowart. Reg Gardner’s rink nearly saved the Magic winning 36-17 over Ron Boyd.

Nangiloc stitched up fourth spot on the ladder with a comprehensive 37 shot, all rinks win over Ouyen. Ben Mansell leading the charge for the Loc with a 30-18 win over Reg Dean. Nangiloc 89(12) defeated Ouyen 52(0).

Coomealla continued their domination of the competition and have secured a home final by defeating Irymple 80(12) – 54(0). Rob Nichols rink were the cannon balls for Coomealla getting over Gus Storer 30-14.

Third Division have completed their home and away matches and will take a breather next week.

The big upset for the round saw Merbein defeat Wentworth. Bryce Midgley(S), Gordon Wallace, Chris Casey and Patricia Crawford took down Jacob Ralph 29-18 to give the Hawks a win 70(8) – Wentworth 64(4).

Workers were too good for Irymple winning 67(10) – 62(2). Euston Bandits dented Mildura’s run with Glenn Scott defeating Dennis Lloyd 27-18. The nine shot margin enough to give the Bandits the overall win and fourth place and a finals berth.

Bottom side Red Cliffs took out Underbool to finish their season with a solid win. The Tigers Tony Goodrem getting Tigers home with a 31-14 win over Colin Lockett. Red Cliffs 70(8) d Underbool 63(4).

Fourth Division final round results saw some surprises. Mildura 5 defeated Irymple 57(8) – 26 (0).

The win securing fourth place and a finals berth. Mildura 4 accounted for Euston 2.

Dale Presley-Barwick, Joan Bunney, Mick Powell and Jimmy Presley-Barwick the big winners for the Magic recording a 45-6 win over Lina Morgan.

Coomealla took all the points over Underbool and sit top of the table and will host a semi-final. The Cannons defeating Underbool 64(8) – 34(0). Euston 3 defeated Red Cliffs 52(8) – 37(0).
