Suns rise at the Cauldron

IRYMPLE’S Midweek Pennant bowls side took out top side Mildura in a solid performance during round 9 of the season on Monday.

Graeme Phillips took control of his match against Isaiah Bettess to record a 27-16 win for the Suns.

Ian McLean accounted for the Magic’s Mark Eckel 30-24 to give the home side a 17-shot advantage.

Ken Yeowart was the only shining light for the Magic as his rink recorded a 22-19 win over Graham Newey.

The Suns give themselves a little bit of breathing space inside the four with the 76/10 to 62/2 win.

Ouyen took the points 72/10 to 66/2 over Red Cliffs as Alan “Sammy” Floyd led the way with a 28-16 win over Marg Dominelli.

Sue Kelly snuck home 25-24 against Michael Clifford. Carolyn Coles was Red Cliffs’ redeemer taking the points over Janet Vallance 26-19.

Workers defeated Coomealla 66/10 to 58/2.

Peter Bishop took control of his game over Di Milner to record a 26-10 win and set the proceedings in the right direction.

Ken Job piloted his rink home 23-17 over Tania Gust. The Workers had too much in the tank despite a creditable performance by the Cannons’ Rob Nichols, who recorded a 31-14 win over Di Smith.

Division 2 results went pretty much as predicted. Mildura defeated Workers 3 comfortably 58/8 to 33/0.

Wentworth got home against Underbool by winning on all rinks, however the margin of 11 shots was not indicative of the tightness of the match. The final score was 54/8 to 43/0.

Red Cliffs put a tiger in the chook house with a solid 54/8 to 47/0 win over Workers 2.Euston 60/8 snuck into the four with a solid win over Irymple 38/0.
