Magic take on Suns for top spot

TOMORROW’S Bowls Sunraysia Saturday Pennant Division One match up between Mildura and Irymple will give the winner outright top spot on the ladder.

The Suns have been in awesome form over the last few rounds and will start favourites.

Meanwhile, the Magic at home are a solid unit and have the capacity to pluck victory from the jaws of defeat.

Both sides have an array of talent keen to finish the better at the end of the day and the squad that settles early and plays solid, consistent bowls will win.

The players ladder on Bowlslink has the top seven spots filled by Irymple players which is a solid indicator of their form.

The Magic also have their fair share of players filling the remainder of the top end of the table.

This will be a solid hit out for both sides with a handful of shots deciding the result.

In other games Workers are at home to Red Cliffs and both sides coming off big losses last week.

Workers sit inside the four, three points ahead of Ouyen.

A win for the home side would help create some breathing space for the Green and Gold.

On current form Workers might just be a touch too good for Red Cliffs.

Out at Kenny Park Merbein will do battle with Ouyen.

The Hawks are flying high after a solid win last week with some players announcing their intentions at Division One level.

Evan Rice was the talk of the town on Sunday at the State Singles with several big wraps for the Merbein product.

It will be interesting to see whether the Hawks can back it up against the Two Blues.

Ouyen were narrow losers to the Magic last week and will be keen to seek redemption with the Hawks to win at home.

In Second Division, ladder leaders Coomealla host Ouyen and with their sights firmly set on finals should be a shot too good for the Two Blues.

Second placed Mildura travel to the Cauldron to take on the Suns and this match will be a tight affair.

The home side starting the slightest of favourites but it’s a toss a coin and the winner would go a game clear and secure second spot, so all to play for.

Nangiloc host Workers at the Loc and need a win to stay in touch with the finals and a place in the four.

After last weeks hammering they will be up and about looking to rekindle a victory and provide some breathing space.

Workers have a spot in the four hanging tantalisingly close so will have all stops out.

After last week’s “kiss of death” I’ll let the bowling god’s nominate a winner in this one.

Division Three ladder leaders and early premiership favourites Wentworth travel to Underbool.

The Steamers are two games clear of the competition and can’t afford to take an RDO against the southerners.

The home side are experiencing some good form at the moment, will take the game up to Wentworth and are tipped to shine.

Mildura and Workers contest the Cureton Avenue derby at Mildura.

On current form Mildura in second spot should be a touch too good for their neighbours.

The Bandits are at home to the Suns and the host side took a bit of a smack from Mildura last week and will be on the road to redemption.

Sitting 11 points clear of the Suns, the home side will be keen to get back on the winners list.

Merbein find themselves just outside the four and travel to Red Cliffs.

A win for the Hawks would keep them knocking on the door looking for a place in the finals.

Coomealla Cannons sit atop of the fourth division ladder and tomorrow welcome Mildura 4 to the Fortress.

This will be a solid examination for the visitors. Home side to win by five shots.

Underbool are at home to the Euston 2 side. Both need a win this week to stay in touch with the four.

The Bandits have been struggling to put teams on the green in recent weeks but to their credit they keep the fight alive. Euston to win.

Red Cliffs at home to Irymple will need to fire as the Suns sit two points shy of the four and with a win could find their way into finals contention.

Finally, in Euston 3 at home to the Magic 5 a toss a coin will decide this nail biter.
