Top two breaking clear

WORKERS have ensured they and Mildura have breathing room at the top of the Midweek Pennant bowls ladder following their 69(10) to 66(2) victory over Irymple on Monday.

Ken Job’s rink of Eddie Vuik, Peter Mitchell and Trish Walters were in scintillating form winning 28-14 over Lorraine Millwood’s rink.

Mildura 60(10) defeated Ouyen 54(2) and two games were very low-scoring affairs, as Ken Yeowart defeated Sue Kelly 17-15 and Isaiah Bettess lost to Janet Vallance 18-19.

The standout performers for Red Cliffs in their 74(10) to 62(2) defeat of Coomealla were Margaret Dominelli, Roseanne Muir, Sue Harfard and Luke Savaidis-Milne, who defeated Rob Nichols’ rink 27-20.

There were some big winners in Division 2.

Euston 82(8) were far too good for Red Cliffs 25(0). Glenn Scott, a substitute, Christine Smith and Tony Scott were the big winners scoring 47 shots to six over June’s Spry’s rink.

Irymple lost to Workers 2, with a 42(2) to 52(6) scoreline. The Workers rink skipped by Wayne Long, Harvey Loveday, Jeff Castleman and Kelvin Robertson defeated Jill Duncan 35-15.

Mildura 58(8) defeated Underbool 41(0). Ken Hayes’ rink with Cecilia Ferdelja, Alik Kowalewicz and Carmel Morrison were too strong for Jennifer Wakefield’s rink, 32-21.

Wentworth earned the win over Workers 3, 44(6) to 36(2). Sue Nichols and her rink of Rod Baird, Alan Behsmann and Ann Dawes scored a 23-14 win over Terry Buckingham.
