Match-ups key to Suns, Magic battle

THE Irymple Suns welcome the Mildura Magic to the Cauldron for the match of the round in Division One Sunraysia pennant bowls.

The Suns will start slight favourites with a home ground advantage.

The heavier conditions will force a more aggressive approach to play which will favour the Suns.

The Magic, on the other hand, will be searching for a win to jump into second spot on the ladder as we reach the halfway mark of the season.

Mildura’s Keith Sharman and Mark Eckel are in top form alongside the Suns’ Tom Hogan. The match-ups on the day will be telling.

The Coomealla Cannons welcome Workers to the domed Fortress.

After a cracking start to the season, the Cannons have hit wet powder. Workers are only eight points clear of the Cannons, so the home side will be pressing to stay in touch.

Workers can open a break between fourth and fifth with a win. The Green and Gold to salute.

Top side Ouyen will host Merbein at Blackburn Park. The Hawks will be looking to get back in formation after their poor performance last week. This match-up will be a very close affair. The home side should salute but a boil-over would not surprise.

Division Two ladder leaders Irymple match up against Mildura at Cureton Avenue.

The Suns will be looking for a win to keep top spot. Mildura are three games clear of fifth spot and will be hunting for a win. The Suns by four shots.

Merbein will host Red Cliffs at Kenny Park. The Tigers will need to be on guard but should have plenty in the tank to take the points.

Nangiloc will be pumping for a win in an effort to grab top spot should Irymple take a tumble.

They host Workers and will start strong favourites at home.

Third Division top side Underbool take on the Euston Bandits at home.

Underbool will start hot favourites. Third-placed side Ouyen host Workers at Blackburn Park and will be searching for a win. The Two Blues are three points clear of Workers in fourth spot and a win will keep them in touch with the ladder leaders.

Irymple front up to Mildura at the Cauldron. The Magic have been very hit-and-miss this season whilst the Suns have opened up a break. Home side Suns to win a tight one.

Fourth Division top side Wentworth welcome back Ivan Behsmann after his recent acrobatic manoeuvre sidelined him with injury.

They take on Red Cliffs at Tigerland. The Steamers should win comfortably.

Surprise packet team in Division Four the Euston Bandits, under the tutelage of Glenn Scott, host the Coomealla Cannons.

A good win by the Bandits could see them claim third spot. The Cannons sit comfortably in second and after their win over the Steamers last week, should prevail.

Mildura host Irymple and with a heavy track, will have the job before them. No strangers to a challenge, the home side could cause an upset. A win could see them jump from bottom into the four.
