Hard task for Workers

By Chris Mitchell

BOWLS Sunraysia pennant’s top side Ouyen host Workers at Blackburn Park in what is a must-win game for the visitors.

They sit just two points shy of Coomealla and outside the four, but should they lose and Coomealla get over Mildura, the divide widens.

Ouyen have a solid record at home and will start favourites as Janet Vallance has her rink firing and Alan Crook’s rink have been the quiet improvers in recent weeks. Two Blues to salute.

Merbein take on Irymple at Kenny Park and the Hawks will need to swoop early.

Shawn Fullerton has his Hawk rink flying in formation and will be looking for support from Laurie McLaine and Jack Anderson’s rinks.

The Suns are developing week on week, with Matt West and Tom Hogan growing in stature in their Skips roles. The Suns will prevail.

Mildura will be looking to make it three on the trot and cement their position in the four when they face off against the Coomealla Cannons at Cureton Avenue.

The Magic’s chief wizard, Mark Eckel has his rink of John Huxtable, Corey Bettess and Judy Osborne tricking along nicely.

Coomealla will be looking for a solid team effort to repeat their first round upset. Magic at home to win.

Division 2

Ladder leaders Mildura travel to Nangiloc in what is a must-win game for both sides. Mildura hold a four-point advantage at the top of the table, ahead of Irymple and seven ahead of Nangiloc.

A win will secure top spot, but Nangiloc will start favourites at home.

Irymple host Merbein at the Cauldron and will be looking for a repeat performance from last week.

It’s hard to go past the Suns and they will start favourites as they search to regain top spot.

Workers and Red Cliffs do battle at Union HQ where the winner will take control of fourth spot.

The Tigers lost narrowly to Mildura last week and will be seeking redemption.

Workers’ Darren Coldwell might have different ideas and will have the Green and Gold fired up. Even money, too close to call.

Division 3

Euston Bandits play top side Irymple at the Carousel. It’s hard to go past the top side. The Suns to win.

Underbool welcome the Workers to the Reserve. Second v fourth, Underbool will be keen to wrap this match up and take a margin over the opposition and secure second place. Kangas to win.

Mildura and Ouyen do battle at Cureton Ave. With a spot in the four up for grabs, the home side will be up and about, keen to secure the points.

The Two Blues have had a mixed run in recent weeks and will be keen to salute. The home side has a sniff at a spot in the four and will take the points.

Division 4

Ladder leaders Wentworth head upstream to do battle with the Euston Bandits. After their win last week, the home side will be up and about.

The Steamers will be keen to keep top billing. The best match-up would be an Ivan Behsmann v Glenn Scott contest. Bandits at home to win.

Coomealla match up against Mildura at the Fortress. The Cannons are sitting in third and a win will deliver some breathing space.

The Magic will need to be in form if they want to secure a spot in the four. Cannons by a shot.

Irymple host Red Cliffs at the Cauldron. The Sus will rise and shine early to collect the points.
