The Mildura Hospital’s Very Own – Matron Vera White

Miss White, the efficient and popular matron of Mildura Hospital, would probably disclaim any intention of putting herself into competition with the fresh young rose buds of the Beauty Contest; she appears as the special representative of the hospital and her badge is the red cross of sacrificial service.

Yet Vera White has comeliness and winsomeness and womanly charm; she is quite in her right place, therefore, in the competition.

Petite in figure, she seems but a wisp of a woman for her great responsibilities; but the suggestion of frailness is entirely obliterated when her sweet purposeful face, with its fine intelligent eyes is looked into.

Miss White, with almost raven hair, and warm dark complexion, would be classed ordinarily as a brunette; her eyes, however are a deep blue grey, deep and luminous.

They are the chief feature in a face that is regular and pleasing.

Whatever the final count may show in money results, it is safe to say that there will be no more personally popular girl in the Beauty Contest than Matron White.
