Baseball brothers make diamond moment for mum

THIS past Mother’s Day weekend marked a rare sporting occurrence during a B-Grade fixture at Newey Field, as four brothers and Eagles players featured together in the team’s victory over Mallee Bandits.

A significant milestone for the Scott family as Laine, Lachlan, Reece, and Zac were all in the Eagles’ lineup for the round two fixture which also included mum, Ali who was the game’s scorer.

“The boys were all really happy to play together and everything just lined up for it to happen, so it was a really nice feeling for all of us,” said Ali.

“We’ve tried to make it happen earlier but with Laine playing footy and coaches’ choices it just hadn’t happened yet so we’re grateful for last weekend.”

Twins, Reece and Zac were called up from C-Grade to join their brothers and Ali believes it wasn’t a one-off occurrence.

“The twins were called up to join their brothers on the bench and hopefully I think if they can keep impressing the coaches they should be able to stay on the team,” she said. “It’s a special achievement because I have never heard of four brothers playing in the same team before at Eagles, nor baseball in Mildura as a whole.”

The special Mother’s Day gift for Ali became even sweeter for the family, as the Eagles defeated Mallee Bandits 10-4, with two safe hits recorded by Lachlan and one from Laine.
