Pitching duel takes it all the way to the wire

A FIERCE pitchers duel between two heavyweights, with neither side wanting to relinquish the ball or the lead, has seen the Wanderers clinch a thrilling A Grade victory.

Wanderers livewire Haydon Carroll and Eagles hurler Andrew Law put everything on the line as they pitched the full seven innings for their respective teams.

There was little between the two sides as Wanderers hosted Eagles in the final double-header round for this season.

Carroll scored in the bottom of the third innings off a sacrifice fly to Ollie Hayes to take the lead.

Eagles responded with a single run in the top of the seventh innings through consecutive hits and team hitting to tie the game.

Hayes reached on a single in the bottom of the seventh innings.

Hayes then scored from first off a hit to centre field to Jason Tonkin, with Wanderers walking off for the win.
