ARTIST Brendan Kennedy hopes his airport mural will encourage Mildura visitors to think about the region's First Nations history as they touch down on local soil.

Kennedy this week began work on a 6m by 1.8m mural, on the wall of Mildura Airport's departure hall.

The Robinvale-born artist has worked on murals in Melbourne, including a 28m one located in the Melbourne Museum.
