Mildura Anzac Day march on hold

MILDURA RSL cannot commit to an Anzac Day march this year due to COVID-19.

RSL general manager Kim Archibald said while the RSL will host a dawn service and a midday service, a decision cannot be made regarding the march.

“Given the statewide situation, we haven’t made our minds up yet,” Mr Archibald said of the .

“It’s still quite a way off … it is two months away (April 25) so hopefully we will be able to host a march.

“At the moment it is a week-by-week proposition and we can’t commit ourselves.”

Mr Archibald said Anzac Day was the most important time of year for the RSL.

“It is a day of utmost significance because it honours soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice,” he said.

“Anzac Day is an opportunity to pay tribute to those who served and those who are currently serving.”

The general manager said no matter what services the RSL hosts on the day, they will comply with government regulations.

If the RSL cannot hold a march this Anzac Day, Mr Archibald said people could take part in the national RSL-endorsed Light Up The Dawn campaign from their driveway.
