I WOULD like to acknowledge and sincerely thank the Forest Fire Management Victoria and Fire Rescue Victoria staff, along with the Country Fire Authority volunteers, local farmers, landowners and machinery operators, who worked tirelessly to help protect our region during the recent bushfires at Colignan and Wyperfeld National Park.
In tough conditions, these crews and community members responded quickly, worked long hours and used their skills, equipment and local knowledge to help contain the fires and reduce the risk to people, property and the environment.
What they do goes beyond protecting homes and farms. They give the community reassurance in uncertain times and show the strength and spirit of regional communities like ours.
Whether staff or volunteers, these firefighters and support crews bring local knowledge, experience and commitment to every response. These fires are a clear reminder of how important that teamwork is for regions like ours.
As these fires continue to be monitored and fully extinguished in the weeks ahead, it’s important that our firefighters and support crews know they have the backing of the community. The job doesn’t end once the flames are out. Ongoing conditions can remain challenging long after the immediate danger has passed, and sustained effort is often required to ensure fires are fully brought under control.
To everyone involved in the response, thank you for the work you do and for the role you play in protecting our region.
