Speed dating – but for for jobs

STAFF from a regional employment agency are hosting an event in Mildura on Thursday with the aim of helping employers find job-ready workers.

CVGT Employment Mildura manager Tahleesha Beer highlighted the benefits of the event, known as Jobs at First Sight.

She said it would seek to allow businesses to meet several candidates quickly in a informal environment.

“The event underscores our commitment to fostering economic growth and employment opportunities in our community,” she said.

“This event is a fantastic platform for connecting our participants with local employers, enhancing workforce development, and supporting the vibrant future of Mildura.

“By saving time and money, filling vacancies faster, and reaching individuals who may not typically apply, the Mildura Jobs at First Sight event provides significant benefits to employers.”

For candidates, CVGT staff were trying to set up the event so that it would be conversational with employers, seeking to ease the stress typically associated with traditional job interviews.

KEEN Partners employment field manager Courtney Page said the event was formatted to make the hiring process more straightforward.

“We’ve been attending the event for a couple of years now, and we absolutely love it,” she said.

“It not only saves me time compared to sifting through hundreds of resumes, but also provides an excellent opportunity to network with other businesses.”

The event runs from 10am to 12pm on Thursday at the Hotel Mildura Grand.
