THE Lanyon family through the Sunraysia Daily, have done an amazing job over generations preserving our local history. Daily events, significant big events, including floods, fires, droughts, infrastructure upgrades, local sports and births, deaths and marriages have all been recorded, many with great images, over the years.
The Sunny Daily is a “must go” to for all historians!
As a retired irrigator, I have been a “rusted on” Sunraysia Daily reader from way back, when it was delivered to our fruit block with the milk. The weather forecast, including the likelihood of wind and rain and the evaporation graph, were all amazing initiatives back then.
Over time, the weather details have been very valuable and they have evolved to almost a full page now, which is fantastic for the broader community.
In recent additions of the Sunny Daily, since the change in ownership, I note, that the river flows have been discontinued in the weather page. This is in my view, most unfortunate. Knowledge of the river flows is important to irrigators, fishers, environmentalists and users of the river for recreational purposes.
Although river flows do vary considerably and heights remain reasonably constant within the regulated weir pools, knowledge of river flows is invaluable for our private diverters on both sides of the river who need to adjust their pumps as they are outside the influence of the weir pool levels.
In flood times and when the weirs are removed, this information, once readily available in the Sunraysia Daily, was invaluable to so many of your readers.
Could the river flow information be therefore re-instated to the Sunraysia Daily weather page?
