Happy campers ready for muster

A FLEET of caravanners are set to visit Mildura next month as part of a national muster.

More than 200 members of the Australian Caravan Club are expected to camp out at Apex RiverBeach Caravan Park from October 13 to October 20.

The club has more than 40 branches from different locations across Australia, from Cairns, to Perth, and as far as Tasmania.

Club member Wayne Amjah, who has been away with his branch for about three months, said there was a great fellowship within the group.

“Sometimes you meet up at different camps throughout the year,” he said.

“You meet so many people, not just within your own branch but other people too.”

Part of the muster will include a donation to C.H.A.I.L.I.S from raffle ticket proceeds, and other activities across the week.

Club secretary Joan Brumby said a local charity was always selected at each national event.

“It’s important for us to give back,” she said.

“That’s also why we try to incorporate activities that will give back to the community.”

Some local attractions included in the program are day trips to Red Cliffs and Wentworth, as well as a visit to Orange World, and Varapodio Estate.

There will also be a Lions Club barbecue, and a smaller-scale Smoke on the Water inspired festival.

“We’ve tried to offer a mixed bag, including more touristy things, without making it too expensive,” Ms Brumby said.

“Some people might not have seen the area before, so they’ll likely come and do their own sightseeing.”

There will be a Home Day on October 16, which anyone interested in learning more about the club is welcome to intend.
