Workers early contenders

WORKERS have shown their hand with a blistering round 1 victory and all Midweek Pennant rivals should take notice that they mean business.

Next in their crosshairs will be Red Cliffs, who make the trip to Cureton Avenue for round 2.

Already the Workers look the team to beat.

The Tigers took the points against Coomealla and will be up to the challenge.

A hand full of shots will decide the winner. Workers to win.

Coomealla take on Mildura at home.

Mildura’s Isaiah Bettess is out but is replaced by Mark Eckel.

The Magic have also included Ken Hayes to replace Val Munro.

Coomealla have also made changes with Tom Bath unavailable. Rob O’Brien steps in to lead for Pam Lambert.

Played under the dome, this will be a solid hit out for both sides. The Magic will start favourites.

Irymple will be stinging after their performance last week against Workers. At home to Ouyen, the Suns will be looking for a brighter display from their No.1 side.

The Two Blues have a good unit in place, with former club singles champions Ken Graham and Geoff Hahnel, along with Alan Crook all solid contributors.

Ning Pitcher, Sue Kelly and Lorraine Hickmott, all capable performers on their day, will add to their side’s performance. Ouyen to take the points.

In Division 2, Workers 2 travel to Red Cliffs.

Workers will be tested by the home side but should prevail in a tough contest.

Wentworth take on the Underbool Kangas at Wentworth.

The visitors went down in a split decision last week and will be looking to bounce back.

The Steamers are always hard to beat when docked at their home port. Toss of a coin.

Workers 3 meet Mildura at Union HQ.

The Magic had a good win last week and will be looking to make it two on the trot over the green and gold.

The Euston Bandits will have all guns blazing at home against Irymple and should take the points.

On a different note, Merbein Bowls Club’s Scott Pollock is seriously ill.

Josh Lee has set up a Go Fund Me page to help raise some funds for the Pollock family.

Please support this very worthy cause. Details can be found on the Merbein BC Facebook page.
