Mildura, Workers lead midweek pack

MILDURA maintained their undefeated run in Division 1 Midweek Pennant bowls with a solid 17-shot win over Red Cliffs, 72(11) to 55(1).

Mark Eckel skipped Shirley Pupillo, Corey Bettess and Glenys Yeowart to a comfortable 28-18 win over Marg Dominelli’s rink of Rozanne Muir, Sue Harford and Lorraine Nancarrow.

Ken Yeowart’s four was seven shots the better over Michael Clifford, winning 23-16. Carolyn Coles forced Isaiah Bettess’s rink to a 21-all tie to collect a valuable point for the Tigers.

Irymple took hold of Coomealla at the Cauldron with Graeme Phillips, Mick Legin, Julie Lowerson and John Vuik recording a comfortable win for the Suns, scoring 42 shots to defeat Peter Lambert, Nan Bath, Coralie Lever and Roger Beavis 11.

The Cannons’ Rob Nichols defeated Graham Newey 27-22, and Ian Kellett had the better of Delwyn Milner 29-14. The Suns won 93(10) to 52(2).

Workers kept in touch with the ladder leaders by defeating Ouyen 93(12) to 56(0).

Dianne Smith defeated Sue Kelly 32-14, Ken Job got over Geoff Hahnel 30-20, and Peter Bishop collected the points over Janet Vallance 31-22.

In Division 2, Workers 2 drew with Workers 3, 43(4) apiece.

Mildura had a comfortable 40-shot win over Irymple, Red Cliffs defeated Underbool by three shots, and Wentworth defeated Euston by five shots.
