AFL football: Tough debut for Lochie O’Brien

THE result wasn’t what he was after, but Lochie O’Brien said making his AFL debut for Carlton was still an amazing experience.

The 18-year-old South Mildura product picked up 11 touches in his side’s diabolical 86-point loss to North Melbourne in Hobart on Saturday night.

North, featuring fellow South Mildura export Robbie Tarrant, kicked 18.8 (116) to Carlton’s 4.6 (30) on a miserable night for Blues fans.

“It was amazing to be out there and actually get to experience the AFL life,” O’Brien said post-match.
