SFNL: Wentworth put focus on youngsters

A TOUGH year is bringing Wentworth’s young playing group closer together, co-coach Sam Curran says.

Wentworth’s struggles this season hit a new low with a 0.4 return in a 103-point loss to Imperials on Saturday, but Curran said there were positives in the manner in which the next generation of Roos were conducting themselves.

“There’s no secret, it’s going to be a long year for us, but the spirit is pretty good (in the changeroom),” he said.

“Typically when a footy club is down they seem to jell more than when they’re up because there’s a lot more pressure and it’s a lot more individualised, everyone is fighting for a spot.
