MILDURA police have confirmed the identity of a woman who died after being struck by multiple vehicles along San Mateo Avenue on Thursday night, as Jodie Spencer.
The 43-year-old Mildura woman was hit by two cars while walking along San Mateo Avenue near Kalimna Drive about 10.50pm.
Mildura Police Superintendent Rebecca Olsen said the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being clarified, however she confirmed drivers of both vehicles that struck Ms Spencer failed to stop or render assistance.
“There are currently two drivers of two separate vehicles that are assisting police with this inquiry,” Supt Olsen said.
San Mateo Avenue between Fourteenth and Fifteenth Streets was closed to traffic on Friday while Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives carried out a forensic examination of the site.
Sgt Olsen said the collision investigation was “quite complex” due to the circumstances.
Witnesses are still being sought and information can be forwarded through Crime Stoppers.
