THE Sunraysia Football Netball League has backed a bid for a Northern Victorian team to join the state’s premier netball competition but remains wary of the tyranny of distance.

A regional consortium has applied to be admitted into the Victorian Netball League, four years after narrowly missing out on a franchise licence, with SFNL president Ros Milverton happy with the move despite the distance between Mildura and the team’s mooted Bendigo base.

“It will be a benefit for anybody who does want that, the difficulty is travel time,” she said.
