IRYMPLE have surprised many with the signing of Heath Caldwell.
Caldwell stood down as senior coach of Mildura after one season in the job, citing personal and work commitments.
The Demons had been confident of retaining the classy midfielder as a player for 2019.
Caldwell spent two seasons with Mildura after being recruited from Bordertown at the beginning of 2017.
