A LOCAL company has won best in their category at the country’s top building awards ceremony hosted in Hobart this week.
Bruce Lee Builders received first place honours in the National Renovations/Extensions between 1 and 2 million dollars category at the National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards.
Company director Casey Lee said never in his wildest dream could he have anticipated winning a national title.
“We had no expectations going into it. All of the builds we were up against were incredible, so it must just be up to the smallest of margins that get you over the line and win you a national award,” he said.
“To take out the award basically meant we had the best renovations in Australia, between one to two million, and coming from a small place like Mildura up against some of the big guys is just unbelievable.
“When you go down to Hobart and realise you’re sitting with the best builders in the country, I didn’t know it was possible being from such a small business.”
The team at Bruce Lee Builder’s have had quite a 2024, having also won Regional Residential Builder of the Year last month at the Master Builders Victoria Excellence in Housing Awards.
It was a three-story cottage extension that won the company both the national and state awards.
Mr Lee hoped he would have more opportunities to work on unique builds.
“You need to get the ideal client where you are both in the same boat, see the vision, and work closely together with complete trust,” he said.
“We love to have people on board who want to do something complex or something that’s totally different that someone has tackled before.
“I cannot wait to get into the next super exciting project.”
