Tony Modra still has country football at heart

TONY Modra dazzled crowds with his high marking and goal-kicking during a decade in the AFL with the Adelaide Crows and Fremantle.

But things could have been a lot different if West Adelaide hadn’t declined his application for clearance to the Red Cliffs Football Netball Club in 1991.

Modra was playing with Renmark in the Riverland Football League when he was sounded out about a move to the Tigers.
