Mildura Council backs rail campaign

MILDURA Council is backing a campaign to support the completion of the Murray Basin Rail Project (MBRP). 

The Rail Freight Alliance’s Save Our Tracks campaign is pushing for the MBRP to remain in state ownership and be completed, following reports the project was “out of funds”.

The revelation was announced in June by Transport Infrastructure Minister Jacinta Allan, who admitted the project’s $440 million budget had been almost fully spent – leaving upgrades, such as altering the Manangatang and Sea Lake lines to standard gauge, up in the air.
