Golfers hit fairways for charity drive

THE sun was shining for yesterday’s sixth annual Lucas Foundation charity golf day, with event organiser Ryan McCaig saying the event drew one of the biggest crowds to date.

More than 150 golfers lined up to tee off 18 holes at the Red Cliffs Golf Club, with the aim of raising money for the charity that helps sick children and their families.

“We’ve been pretty overwhelmed with the generosity people have shown,” Mr McCaig said.

“People have really gotten behind the cause and dug deep, the money raised so far has been well and truly in excess of what we expected which is just fantastic.

“It was a great day had by all and we’re really thankful for the support and donations so far.”
