Demon’s remarkable season rewarded

KATHY Carusella has been selected as the 2019 Merbein and District Community Bank 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year for the month of August.

Carusella was nominated by her home club of Nangiloc & District Football Netball Club.

Kathy is the A Grade coach and player of the Nangiloc and District Netball team in the Millewa Netball competition.

The last A grade netball team at Nangiloc to play in a grand final was in the 1980s.

Carusella has been playing coach for the past three years and this year she has coached the team into the grand final, but unfortunately going down to Werrimull.

Carusella has had a remarkable season playing centre, coaching the runners-up and also tying with Alison Callahan for the Dot Wilson Best and Fairest A Grade player in the Millewa Netball Association.

With her coaching abilities Carusella brought great success to the small Nangiloc club along with her stand-out personality, leading by example both at club level as well as on and off the court and has helped lift the club’s netball profile in the Millewa.

As the August winner Kathy received a voucher proudly sponsored by Sportspower and is now eligible for the 2019 Merbein and District Community Bank 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year Awards to be held on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the Club Da Vinci, Mildura.

Mallee Sports Assembly is now calling for October nominations for the 2019 Merbein and District Community Bank 97.9 Triple M Northern Mallee Sports Star of the Year Awards.

September nominations close on November 8, 2019.

Nomination forms are available from the MSA office at 101-101a Ninth Street, Mildura; Sportspower, Merbein District Community Bank and 97.9 Triple M, or the MSA website: www.malleesportsassembly.org.au. For further information please phone 5021 3464.
