Campbell Griffiths injured at championships

MERBEIN South paceman Campbell Griffiths’ 2019 Under 19 National Championships is over after a foot injury.

The left-armer pulled up sore from his commitments with the Cricket Australia XI in Perth and scans on Saturday revealed an issue with his cuboid bone.

He will be required to be in a moonboot for four weeks and will then need to complete rehabilitation, with further assessments to come.

Former Coomealla Wentworth paceman Kobe Smith yesterday had bowled five overs for 0/14 for Victoria Country against Tasmania, who were 9/150 near the end of their innings when Sunraysia Daily went to print.

Meanwhile, Victoria Metro captain Wil Parker, grandson of Sunraysia sporting great Brian Weightman, had figures of 1/56 against the Cricket Australia XI.

Victoria Metro were chasing 250.

All-rounder Parker, who plays for Monash in Victorian Premier Cricket, was yet to bat.

He was averaging 29 runs over the course of the tournament.

There is no play today.

The semi-finals are set to start tomorrow.
