Sunraysia dominant at Junior Country Week

SUNRAYSIA had a strong win over Central Region in their Under 17 Junior Country Week Twenty20 clash at Henshilwood Oval at the weekend.

Central Region, made up of players from the Mallee, Red Cliffs Cricket Association and Robinvale, won the toss and batted first only to be held to 5/87 after their alloted 20 overs.

Tate Hulland, a Sunraysia Cricket Association First Division premiership player last season with Mildura Settlers, top scored with an unbeaten 41.

Mildura West’s Oskar Faulkhead and Settlers’ Liam Goss took two wickets each.

In response, Sunraysia took just 13 overs to rein in the total, losing only one wicket in the process, with Settlers’ Seamus Keogh not out on 51 and Irymple’s Bailey Anderson 27 not out.

Nursery Ridge’s Wyll Ebbels was the only Central bowler to break through.

In the Under 15s, Sunraysia also played Central and came out strongly to record an 89-run win.

Settlers’ Josh Goss was unbeaten on 79 while Irymple’s Cooper Milsom provided handy support with 43.

Goss had a handy all-round match, taking four wickets, with Tempy’s Sam O’Shannessy top scoring for Central with 24.

Northern Districts’ Under 13s forfeited to Sunraysia while Central Region went down to Swan Hill at Red Cliffs.
