The 12 strays of Christmas

SUNRAYSIA Daily has worked with local animal shelters to bring to you the 12 Strays of Christmas; a collection of beautiful pets waiting to embark on an exciting new chapter. We’re asking the members of the community to get in the festive spirit and make this Christmas particularly special by adopting one of Sunraysia’s cats and dogs. They are all extremely deserving and very much looking for their forever home.

Sunraysia Animal Rehousing Group (SARG)

Dozer, 15 years

Don’t let Dozer’s age fool you, he still has much love to give and is looking for the perfect ‘retirement home’ to spend his twilight years. This handsome little English Staffordshire bull terrier will have you swooning, he thrives on human contact and is partial to some cuddles on the couch. Aside from cats (Dozer’s arch enemy) and a little thunder and lightning, there isn’t much he’s averse to and he loves a car ride. Because Dozer is such a good companion, he isn’t a fan of being left home alone, so he would be suited to someone who he can accompany to work or a retiree. Dozer is perfectly house-trained and always been an in-house dog, so this is a prerequisite for his forever home.

Nelson, six months

Introducing Nelson, an onyx domestic short-haired male. He fully vet-worked. This boy has overcome many hurdles. Found abandoned, hungry and neglected, Nelson arrived at Kitty’s Krib very closed off and extremely frightened. With lots of love and care from his new parents, this boy will flourish.

Manix, nine weeks

The sweetheart of the Krib, Manix is perfectly happy and content being with fellow felines or humans. She is ready for her forever home and will make a delightful addition to any family.

Moo, 2½ years

Or Miss Moo as she is otherwise known, is a medium-hair jet black female. She craves attention and love and really is the whole package. All up to date with her vet work, Miss Moo is ready to go on to her new loving home.

Zee – 16 weeks

Zee is a beautiful, sweet-natured ball of fluff who’s ready and waiting for her forever family. She is still young and loves to play and interact with toys and humans.

Mikah, 3½ years, and Floki, 2½ years

Mikah is a petite, all-white male. Unfortunately, his stay in care at the Krib has been somewhat extended. For three years, he’s been loved and cared for but is now ready to embark on a new exciting journey with a new family. Because he’s a little anxious of new environments and surroundings, Mikah will need a human who’s prepared to love and give him time to adjust.

Floki is a white tabby male who has a built a seemingly inseparable bond with Mikah — it would be hard to part them from each other. It would be ideal if these two boys could be adopted together as they have become quite reliant on one another.

Wren, 14 weeks

Wren is sweet by nature and will make for the most perfect companion. She’s a pale champagne colour and has a lot of years and love to give. Her foster mum says she has the sweetest nature and would make a wonderful, devoted companion.

Geisha and Gordy, both 11 weeks

Geisha and her brother Gordy are white and black. Both are quite cheeky and full of beans, their foster mum absolutely adores them and their quirky characters. “Funny little ratbags” and “full of beans” have been used to describe this pair. They would love a home with humans who have time to appreciate their excitable nature.

Gretta, four years

Gretta is a grey and white female who came into care at the Krib in January. She arrived with her sibling Cricket from a deceased estate. Initially timid, Gretta is adapting well without her sibling but needs a quiet home. She’s best suited to an adult environment.

Griffin, 2½ years

His foster mum says, “Oh this boy is such a lover!” Griffin has a wonderful nature and adores a cuddle. He would make a wonderful companion for any human. He would calmly settle into any environment and be a perfect addition to any home.
