RED CLIFFS

Numbers have been down this past week due to holidays and extreme weather conditions. However, we still have some early birds who get a game in before the heat of the day.

On Thursday, Boxing Day, Bill Woosnam was the winner on 35 points from Claire Hannan on 33 on a countback from Ray Pain. NTP: 8th Sally Jones.

Saturday was medley stableford and 4th Round of the Summer Cup. 

Scores were very tight and after a three way countback, Chris Chase was the winner on 38 points from Paul Legg and Brett Overton.

Daryl Morgan is letting us know that he is back in town with an eagle on the par 4 11th hole.

Saturday is medley stroke Monthly Medal.

On December 18, 10 brave souls faced the handicapper, Bill Woosnam with 39 points was the best of them winning from Noel Douglass who had 38.

Saturday was a medley 3BBB stableford and the winning team Paul Legg Peter Lynch and Michael Hogan on 50 points from Ray Pain Chris Barko and Jill Gleeson on 48 points on a countback from Brad Morgan Chris Merlin and Bob Merlin.

MILDURA

A STABLEFORD was the Ladies competition on Tuesday, December 17 where a countback on 36 points resulted in a win for Glenys Anderson and runner-up prize to Bev Mathews. Nearest the pins to Bev on the 2nd (283), Glenys on the 10th (141) and the 12th to Mabel Crouch (590).

Monday, December 16, veterans competition winner was Alan Wishart returning 39 stableford points over runner-up Joe Rocca and third-placed Terry Fitzpatrick both on 37. 

Dennis Grigg won the vets competition on December 23 with 39 points from runner-up Milton Clark 37 and Peter Dooley won this week’s veterans from a countback over John Williams 34. John won nearest the pin on 2nd and Rob Toms won the 12th.

Results from Wednesday, December 18, Young/Pugsley 4BBB stableford round came down to a close countback on 45 points to separate the placegetters. 

The winners of the Christmas hams was the team of Robert Young and Cesare Fraiia then runners-up Andrew Stanbrook and Ron Casey. 

With seven other teams scoring 44 points on the day a countback found Geoff Crozier and Wayne Davis in third place. 

Nearest the pins to Jeff Chalmers on 1st (540) while Steve Reberger won the 2nd (110) and 12th (133) including the daily Pig pin award.

A score of 22 stableford points from Carla Sherriff gave her a comfortable win over runner -up Sandra Henderson 18 in the 9 hole twilight event on December 20 while Mabel Crouch won last week’s event on 18 points.

Placegetters from Saturday, December 21 stableford competition were Tom Crouch winner of A Grade on 41 points from runner-up Gavin Harrington 38 and third to Justin Mckenzie 37. 

A countback in B Grade resulted in the win to Peter Dooley and runner-up to Paul Wilton both on 40 points with Ron Lyell in third place 38. Alan Lillia won the nearest the pin on 1st (120), Kane Cameron on 2nd (140), Trevor Rogers on 10th (179) and John Edwards on the 12th (296). Balls (19) went down to a countback on 35 points.

Boxing Day medley stableford was won by Simon Peucker with a fine 41 points from runner up Graeme Polkinghorne 39

Results from Saturday’s stableford on December 28 were Geoff Collett winner of B Grade on 41 points over runner-up Ronald Lyell and third place Geoff Dean both on 39 points. 

In A Grade Rob Donaldson won his division returning best score on the day with 42 points then Les Williams won the countback for second from third place Barry Pilgram 40. 

Keith Williams won nearest the pin on 10th (250), Peter Dooley on 12th (128) and Ron Lyell won the car wash and daily Pig pin prize on the 2nd (220). Balls went down to a countback on 36 points on the day.

Today’ s is a medley stableford, Saturday and Sunday stableford, veterans on Monday morning and the Ladies have stableford on Tuesday.

COOMEALLA

ON Saturday the men and women play stableford and the start of their three round Summer Cup.

Stableford shootout entries for men and women are still being accepted, entry fee $10 prior to any stableford round – competition runs until February 15.

On December 11 the men played stableford for Monthly Mug. The A Grade winner was Larry Frasca with 39 points, runner-up Phil Matotek 38 points on a countback over Mark McDonald.

Terry Albion took out B Grade with 39 points, one ahead of Graeme Burrows.

Ball Comp (18 ) was from 34-39 points.

The women played a nine hole stableford and the winner was Margaret Midgley with 20 points on a countback from Margaret McIntyre. 

December 13 was a medley nine hole stableford with Tim Nunan winning on 20 points on countback over Ron Hunt.

Stableford was the name of the game for the men on December 14. Three players finished on 38 points with Tony Finn winning from Ross Bowen and Ash Whitehouse.

In B Grade it was much the same with three players on 37 points – Kym Mack winning from Ron Hunt and Tim Knight.

Bob Fleiner won C Grade with 38 points with Graeme Burrows runner-up on 37 points from Paul Matthews on a counback.

December 14’s women’s stableford was won by Keryne Scheer on 38 points, runner-up Robyn Rohrlach 37 points, 

Rhys Keating took out the medley stableford on December 15 with 39 points over Stuart Watson one behind.

December 18 was stableford for the men.

A Grade winner: Neil Bryant 40 points, runner-up Andrew Rix 38 points, 3rd Darren Murnane 38 points.

B Grade winner: Noel Thomas 39 points, runner-up  Bob Fleiner 37 points, 3rd  Ken Wakefield 36 points.

NTP’S: 3rd Craig Tung 995 cms; 7th Chris Holland 38 cms; 11th Aaron Blake 230 cms; 18th Barry Waters 149 cms.

December 20 was President’s Port 12 Hole medley stableford. Winner: Tony Finn 22 points, runner-up  Doug Alvey 21 points.

Ball comp: Greg Rhodes 18 points.

NTP: 7th – David Baldock 695cms.

On December 21 the men had stroke for their monthly medal. A Grade winner: Greg Rhodes 69 +1/70 nett; runner-up Jai Hudson 82/71 nett; 3rd Phil Matotek 76/71 nett

B Grade winner: Ron Hunt 87/71 nett; runner-up Darryl Laird 77/71 nett, 3rd Murray Appleby 88/71 nett.

C Grade winner: Jeff Stewart 88/69 nett; runner-up Dennis Williams 94/70 nett; 3rd Graeme Burrows 88/70 nett.

NTP’S: 3rd Mark Hann 400 cms, 7th Stan Prymke 216 cms, 11th Dennis Williams 358 cms, 18th Aaron Blake 305 cms.

The women had stableford. Winner: Kylie Walters 38 points, runner-up Sally McOrist 38 points.

Winner Lachlan Cottrell 41 points; runner-up Wayne Hatcher 40 points.

Winner on a countback was Andrew Armsden  from runner-up Troy Neville both on 21 points.

RIVERSIDE

WITH Christmas presents opened and all the tummies filled it’s now time to welcome in the New Year and ask, where the past 10 years have disappeared to?

A new decade is now on our doorstep, so here’s wishing every one of you good health, happiness and many special times with your family and friends.

Monday last week Greg King came in with 35pts and came away with the win, in the Veteran and Friends stableford. 

Rob Arnold collected the only NTP for the day, on the 7th (650).

The medley stableford on Thursday saw a lovely 40pts from Dale Baker (Darwin) take honors, over Grant Docking in second place with 39pts.

Friday’s nine hole medley stableford winner was Glenn Goodall on a fine 22pts.

NTP’s were: Dwaine White (4th 220) and Glenn Goodall (8th 695).

On Saturday the ladies played stableford in somewhat heated conditions. 

Deanne Davis (Red Cliffs) put together a score of 32pts and was rewarded with the win, in front of Lyn Thomson, Leanne Lehmann (Nhill) and Roz Nash, all three on 30pts.

NTP’s were: Lorraine Palmer on both (fourth 380 and 18th a birdie) and Sandra Eastwood (12th, 482).

The men’s field of 47, braved the oppressive conditions to contest stableford on Saturday.

The A Grade winner was Tony Scullino, who was on fire. 

A sensational 45pts put him six points in front of his nearest rivals, Steven Spooner and Oscar Mannix, both on 39pts. Steve had luck on his side and grabbed runner-up.

Kevin Eastwood was pleased to win B Grade with a nice 37pts, over Gavin Graham who snuck into second place after a count back against Neil Lawlor, both on 35pts.

Jeramiah Johnson, came away a happy chappy on the par five second, after three magnificent shots and an eagle.

NTP’s were: Andrew Diwell (4th 430), Ben Massey (7th 270) and Chris O’Brien (18th 311).

Medley stableford on Sunday and the weather definitely wasn’t improving, but the diehards shot out early and got in their 18 holes.

Claude Dawson had an amazing 43pts for a comfortable win over Mick Innes on 39pts.

NTP’s were: Shane Johns (4th 460), Andrew Thomas on both (7th 60 and 12th 132) and Andrew Diwell (18th, 382).

Coming events: today – medley stableford. Thursday: Ladies – par, plus a nine hole par. Friday: All day play – Nine hole medley stableford. Saturday: Men’s – stableford. Ladies – stableford.

Sunday: medley stableford. 

Monday the week of December 16 the men played in the Veteran and Friends comp with John Denman highlighting his talents, with a win on 38pts.

He was followed by Mick Burke, Andrew Diwell and Jim Callaway, who needed a count back to pass runner-up over to Mick, all had 37pts.

NTP’s were: Andrew Diwell (7th, 385) and John Fraser (18th).

The ladies played nine holes of par, with a fine +1 coming from Roz Nash and Carol Benning, with Roz claiming the win.

Wednesday’s weather conditions were not nice, but still 28 men decided to give it their best shot. John Wass had a very nice 38pts to grab top spot with four trailing behind on 36pts. Tom Wilkinson stepped up to second place, followed by Sam Maynard, Andrew Diwell and Greg King.

NTP’s were: Bruce Liddell on both the (4th 280 and 18th 475), Tom Wilkinson (12th 490) and John Fraser (17th 232).

The ladies were very sensible on Thursday and chose to find a cooler place.

Saturday’s temperature drop enabled some of the ladies to get a game in on Saturday and Lorraine Palmer put together a win, making the very most of her 34pts.

NTP’s were: Lorraine Palmer on both (4th, 654 and 12th, 78) and Sandra Eastwood (18th, 114).

The men gathered for the Drummonds stableford in two grades on Saturday, with some amazing scores being produced.

Ben Massey (Kooyonga) had a fantastic 43pts to take the honors in A Grade over runner-up, Tony Scullino on an excellent 42pts.

Neil Lawlor wasn’t going to be outdone, putting together a sensational score of the day, finishing on 44pts and leaving with the B Grade win. 

It was a countback for runner-up, with Lachlin Inglis coming out the better over Gavin Graham, both on 41pts.

NTP’s were: Cliff Young (4th 220), Grant Giddings (7th 500) Andrew Diwell (12th 1400) and Graeme Southwell (18th 520).
