VETERANS

THERE is a little under two weeks before the Sunraysia veteran golfers meet for their first event of the year.

Players who are interested in joining need to attend the Mildura Golf Club on March 2. It is a 4BBB par so players will be partnered.

The age requirement to join the local association is 50 or older.

Make your way to the front of the clubhouse, where the registration table will be set up from 8.30am.

Secretary Brian Young will help new players complete application forms and treasurer Tony Dal Corobbo will collect a once-off $10 joining fee and a $10 annual membership.

You will then become a member of the local association and the Victorian Veteran Golfers Association.

Pay a daily $20 and you have paid for green fees, competition entry and lunch.

Captain John Green will organise a place for you in the field.

Later you will be officially welcomed by president Kevin Jones during the presentation.

Another way to find out about veterans is from your own club.

Check out the vets’ comps played at district clubs each week.

They have a district committee member who can provide additional information.

It’s likely your club will host us sometime during the year.

Play well and you have the chance of winning great prizes, and if you manage a NTP on any of the par threes you are also a winner.

For this next event it is advisable to order a cart – if needed – from the pro shop. Just give them a call before the day.
The cost has be reduced to only $20.

It’s a popular competition, so it’s best to get in early.

Hope to see you there.
