Mildura Colette by Colette Hayman store to close

MILDURA’S Colette by Colette Hayman store will close over the next three weeks, the company’s administrators have announced.

The Mildura Central outlet was among 33 stores nationally earmarked for closure in coming weeks.

Fashion retailer CBCH, trading as Colette by Colette Hayman, was placed in voluntary administration on January 31.

Administrators Deloitte said on Friday that 105 stores would remain open, to be offered for sale, while the rest would shut.

Mildura was one of eight Victorian stores, included Bendigo and Docklands, on the list of closures.

The store in Adelaide’s Rundle Mall will also shut its doors.

Deloitte administrator Vaughan Strawbridge said all efforts are being made to redeploy staff who are affected by store closures.

He said all staff affected were expected to receive all their wages and entitlements in full.

“This is never easy and we have regrettably had to make the decision to close 33 stores,” Mr Strawbridge said.

“We are working closely with the Colette management team to effect the closures quickly while seeking to redeploy staff impacted.”

The women’s handbag and accessory retailer joined a host of national chains entering administration or announcing closures in the early months of 2020.

Mildura’s Jeanswest store was spared the axe that fell on 37 of the company’s stores, but Harris Scarfe Home in Mildura did not survive restructuring efforts.

Dimmeys has so far remained open in Mildura despite most of its outlets closing, although the company told Sunraysia Daily this month it was working on “other arrangements” for the Ninth Street shop.
