Sunraysia’s first Subway drive-through opens

SUNRAYSIA’S first drive-through Subway is open for business.

The Irymple Subway has been a work in progress for about 18 months, with original plans to open in October last year.

The drive-through is the first of its kind in Sunraysia and the third in Victoria.

Franchisee Vikram Singh said he was relieved and excited the drive-through store was now open to the public.

“A drive-through is great anywhere you have the space to put it,” he said.

“It offers convenience to your customers for people who don’t want to step out of the car.”

Similar to other fast-food drive-throughs, customers arrive at an ordering station featuring a menu and proceed to a pay and pick-up window.

The store features a separate sandwich bar for in-store customers.

Mr Singh said the store expected its main customer base to consist of young people and families.

“We have always stood for healthy food so mothers with kids are a large part of our market,” he said.

“Not having to park the car and get all of the kids out makes it much easier.”

The restaurant will open from 8am 10pm each day, but Mr Singh said they would consider only offering drive-through late on Fridays and Saturdays.

Mr Singh is also the franchisee of Subway on Deakin Avenue, which was approved to be converted into a drive-through late last year.

He is also responsible for the Subway being built in Robinvale.

The Irymple store was open for business as of Wednesday this week, but will have a grand opening next Saturday, March 28.

Mr Singh invited the wider community to come along.

“We will be offering a two-for-one promotion,” he said.

“And we are hoping to get some live music and the local radio down here.”
