MEMBER for Mildura Ali Cupper says she is satisfied with the Victorian Government’s actions in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
In a briefing with Health Minister Jenny Mikakos on Thursday, Ms Cupper said she was informed about a number of actions the state was taking including the distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to Sunraysia’s health agencies, along with additional ventilators and increased ICU capacity.
“I am confident that the Victorian Government is working hard to ensure the state is preventing the spread of COVID-19 but also that it is doing everything in their power to ensure the state’s public health system is equipped to deal with an increase in people requiring hospital care,” Ms Cupper said.
“They have committed to providing me with further advice on additional investment in patient transport services to ensure that there is enough capacity there if required, as well as ensuring that where possible our local health services have enough support by way of equipment like ventilators to care for the number of patients expected.”
Ms Cupper said her discussions with Ms Mikakos would continue fortnightly to ensure the community was kept informed.
“The other priority for me is that any state funded services (other than health services) operating locally are doing everything they can to protect their clients and their staff by implementing work from home arrangements, and cancelling all unnecessary meetings or gatherings,” she said.
