PEOPLE are invited to make submissions about regional housing supply to a Parliament of Victoria inquiry, with the MPs to report in December.
The Legislative Assembly Environment and Planning Committee is investigating potential reform needed in the methods of building homes and the mix of housing types.
Committee chair Juliana Addison said members were keen to “further develop our understanding of the issues of housing supply in regional communities” across the state.
“The inquiry provides a significant opportunity for us to look closely at a range of housing issues including areas in most need of housing, workforce challenges in the construction industry and accommodation for regional workers in key sectors,” she said.
People can make submissions to March 31, with the committee to report to Parliament on December 15.
The committee will travel throughout Victoria to conduct site visits and hold public hearings as part of the inquiry.
“We’re really looking forward to being in regional communities across Victoria to meet with representatives involved in the housing sector,” Ms Addison said.
“These visits will allow the committee members to engage with industry experts, support organisations and government authorities, and hear firsthand from those on the ground about their experiences.”
