Sunraysia real estate agents get ready for action

SUNRAYSIA real estate agencies are looking forward to more in-person home inspections.

With the easing of COVID-19 restrictions, real estate agents will, from Monday, be able to hold auctions and house inspections with up to 20 people.

First National Real Estate Collie & Tierney director Ben Ridley said the easing of restrictions was exciting.

“We’re lucky that we’re able to do it,” he said.

“So we’re making sure we’re doing the right thing.”

Real estate agents will be working hard to ensure everyone is safe when attending an inspection or auction.

Mr Ridley said at house inspections and auctions social distancing of 1.5 metres would be enforced and people would be required to use hand sanitiser as they entered properties.

All real estate agents will ask people for contact details for tracing purposes.

Mr Ridley said these details would only be used if agents had to inform anyone that they had come into contact with an active COVID-19 case.

Burns & Co senior sales manager Adriano Aiello said the latest easing of restrictions was great for the community.

“The fact that more people can walk through a property is fabulous,” he said.

Mr Aiello said the business was looking forward to seeing an increase in the number of people attending home inspections and would now offer both virtual and in-person auctions.

“It’ll just be some form of normality for us,” he said.

Both real estate agencies are also feeling optimistic about the region’s market.

“I think the market has been a lot more active than we thought it would be,” Mr Ridley said.

“Everyone’s doing the right thing and things are looking quite positive.”

Mr Aiello said he had noticed a slight decrease in the number of people looking to sell homes but this had not affected the market and was not unusual heading into winter.

He said the price of homes had also not decreased, with many people selling their properties for the expected amount.
