Virus screening clinics for Wentworth Shire

PEOPLE living on the New South Wales side of the border will be able to access a number of pop-up COVID-19 screening clinics this week.

NSW Government Far West Local Health District, with the support of Coomealla Health Aboriginal Corporation and Wentworth Shire Council, are holding drive-through screening clinics at Wentworth Hospital, Dareton Library and the Midway Community Centre in Buronga.

Dareton Primary and Community Health Service health service manager Patricia Algate said the pop-up drive-through screening clinics were for people experiencing cold and flu-like symptoms.

“We look for people that are feeling unwell with any symptoms such as fever, cough, sore or scratchy throat, or shortness of breath to come forward,” she said.

Ms Algate said they had held screening clinics in the past and they were a great opportunity for the community, especially if they could not drive to Mildura for a test.

“We’ve had a few people through in the past, we haven’t been inundated but the people that have been through have been quite pleased for the convenience,” she said.

Ms Algate said for those who could not make it to a screening clinic in NSW there was still the option of calling Sunraysia Community Health Services on 5021 7653 and booking a test at their service in Mildura.
