Curlwaa Caravan Park owners find tourists keep on coming

A NEW South Wales caravan park is unexpectedly thriving under COVID-19 restrictions.

Curlwaa Caravan Park owners Margot and Ric Young hail from Gippsland and have been amazed with the support they have received from the Sunraysia community.

The couple have owned the park for the past four years and have continued to work on improving it for customers.

Mrs Young said they had received a great deal of support from Willow Bend Caravan Park, which had to close during the pandemic.

Mrs Young said she was thankful to Willow Bend for redirecting holidaymakers to her park.

“Over the last few months we’ve had so much exposure,” she said.

“We’ve been getting really great feedback from people staying in the park.”

Mrs Young said the couple were also seeing an increase in the number of people staying at the park thanks to the easing of restrictions in NSW.

“It’s been a real injection for us,” she said.

With school holidays starting today, the park is still accepting Victorian travellers.

Mrs Young said she felt confident that it was safe to do so and had implemented strict social distancing and cleaning regimes.

Asked if the SA border closure had affected the park, Mrs Young said it had not done so noticeably as the park often received more tourists from NSW.

Mr and Mrs Young said they appreciated the local community and the support they had shown by letting travellers know they were still operating.

“We’d love to thank the community for the support they’ve given us for the past four years,” Mrs Young said.
