Table tennis to return

SUNRAYSIA Table Tennis Association’s first grading night, in readiness for the upcoming 2025 senior pennant, will take place on Wednesday, February 19, at the Irymple Leisure Centre from 7.30pm.

The second grading night will be held on Wednesday, February 26, while the season proper will start on Wednesday, March 5. Cost to play at these grading nights is $5 per player.

President Liam Wood is encouraging all existing members to attend along with anyone interested in taking up table tennis. Several players from pennant two are making a return after having the summer pennant off.

All being well, four different grades are planned to be played this season catering for players of all standards.

Wood is also excited that one of Sunraysia’s leading players, Matt Ljubic, after having 2024 off, has been training well and has indicated that he will be lining up this season. The talented Shannon Bowen may also be making a return, and these two players will help to increase the standard of the association.

Veterans Wayne Carmichael and Mark Dorman have committed to play, while regulars Jackson Tung and Kate Carmichael are expected to take up the remaining two number one positions in the six team pennant.

Monday night practice has begun at the Irymple Leisure Centre with these sessions starting at 7.30pm with the cost $5. Monday nights are perfect for anyone considering playing competition table tennis or those wishing to have a social hit.
