VETERAN

OUR next district event scheduled for August 3 at Red Cliffs is still on track.

Despite a somewhat worrying trend with COVID-19 numbers in metro, Melbourne golf is still a sport allowed under the lock down.

The Red Cliffs Club is keen to host the event and hopefully district players are just as keen to participate.

We will continue to manage the process and let you know of the final decision.

Your club’s district committee representative will be contacted to gauge the level of interest of participants and he will also be given the last updates.

Please have a chat and let him know that you are willing to participate.

We will clarify if it is permissible to share a cart but it is advisable to contact the club directly if you want to hire one.

The availability of drinks after the game is also to be decided as numbers determine the viability and legality.

The cost of the day will be dependant of what is provided.

Green fees will be the normal $10 covering a Nearest the Pin competition and competition prizes.

A presentation ceremony might not be possible.

Whatever the restrictions it is important that members support our district clubs through this difficult time.

Updates will be included in these weekly newspaper reports so advice your colleagues to check them to keep up to date.

Numbers will determine whether this event will be the restart of our competition.

There are plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

Hope to see you there.
