AN Irymple woman in Melbourne was said to be doing well after recording a positive COVID-19 test.
A relative told Sunraysia Daily the woman flew to Melbourne for surgery at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she had been since Thursday.
The woman was said to have been tested negative twice, including on Saturday, the day of her operation.
A test on Monday came back positive, which she was told of Tuesday.
The relative said she was doing well and was expected to soon move into a hotel for 14 days’ isolation.
“She’s fine, she’s only got the minor cough, chest infection,” he said.
The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on Wednesday attributed an active case of the coronavirus to the Mildura local government area.
DHHS confirmed the case was someone who had their address listed in the Mildura municipality, but could not detail whether the case was now in the area.
Location data is often linked to where a person’s address is listed with health authorities.
The department has previously reclassified three cases attributed to Mildura, in each case a day or two after the initial announcement.
The Mildura local government area was still listed as having one active case in Thursday’s update.
Before this, the region’s last case to remain confirmed by the department was announced nearly four months ago, on April 8.
Victoria recorded 471 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, after a new daily record of 725 was set on Wednesday.
There were eight new deaths announced, following 15 a day earlier, with the state’s death toll from the virus now 170.
