Sunraysia district golf results

COOMEALLA

JAMES Russell put in a strong performance to win last Wednesday’s A Grade medley par at the Coomealla Golf Club.

Russell finished with +5 with Aaron Duck in second place (+4) and Matt Mason third (also +4).

The men’s NTPs were: Tim Vandenberg (third, 356), Joe Morello (seventh, 197), David Martin (11th, 580) and Justin McPhee (18th, 695). 

Ladies’ NTPs were: Debralie James (third, 8), Kaylene Geddes (seventh), Jenny Smith (11th, 191) and Sue Laird (18th, 60). 

Friday’s medley nine-hole Stableford winner was Joe Doidge (20) on countback from Chris Gurney.

NTPs were: Doidge (11th,450) and Sue Laird (18th, 221). 

Saturday men’s Stableford winner in A Grade was Joe Morello (40). Runner-up was Ron Hunt (39) and  third went to Michael Golitschenko (36).

The B Grade winner was Mark Cleary (42) on countback from Rob Armstrong 42. Third was David Smith (40).

NTPs were: Ray Olver (third, 340), Darren Murnane (seventh, 40), Jack Budd (11th, 268) and Pat Clancy (18th, 359). 

Saturday’s ladies’ Stableford winner was Robyn Hand (41) from Sharon Morrell (34).

NTPs were: Sue Laird (third, 100), Hand (seventh, 602) and Morrell (18th, 279). 

Sunday’s medley Stableford winner was James Russell (38), just ahead of David Martin (37). 

NTP was: Sharon Morrell (11th, 436).

Coming events: Today: Par-three medley Stableford.  Friday: Medley nine-hole Stableford. Saturday:  Men’s Stableford, ladies’ Stableford. Sunday: Medley Stableford.

WENTWORTH

WITH competition play banned across Victorian golf courses, players are making the most of the more relaxed restrictions across the border in New South Wales.

Clubs on the other side of the Murray River have continued to report strong fields, Wentworth among those who have enjoyed good numbers.

During this week’s competition at the Wentworth Golf Club it was Bill Murray who showed his class in a Stableford event with 36 points, narrowly defeating Ged Chapman who finished one behind.

NTP was: Garry Bourke (third, 229). Garry also collected Mr Risky with 29 points.

Sunday’s stroke round was won by Bill Slee with 68 net. Runner-up was Bill Murray (71).

NTP was: Howard Hankinson (second, 650).
